Garth Amundson, Psy.D. (M.S., Clinical Psychology, University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT Psy.D., Clinical Psychology, Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, IL)  

Dr. Amundson is a licensed clinical psychologist with over twenty years of experience.  He works with adults, teens and children in individual, family, and couples therapy.  Dr. Amundson specializes in the evaluation and treatment of depression, anxiety, childhood behavior problems (including ADD and ADHD), eating disorders (including anorexia and bulimia), sexual and physical abuse issues, and psychotic disorders.  Dr. Amundson treats gay and lesbian clients in both individual and couples' formats.  He conducts comprehensive psychological testing for persons seeking clarification about the causes of emotional problems.  He assists clients using brief to intermediate-term therapy, as well as longer-term therapy for individuals seeking to change long-standing, problematic aspects of their feelings, relationships, or behavior. 

Dr. Amundson has published in the area of psychoanalysis as it relates to cross-cultural therapy, and has taught at two Chicago doctoral programs.  He consults to Chicago-area grade and middle schools regarding childrens' behavior and learning problems, and offers presentations and workshops to teachers and parents about a variety of psychological issues.

                                                                          

Heidi Schwartz, Psy.D., LCPC (M.Ed, Counseling, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio;  Certificate with Specialty in Group Therapy, Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio Psy.D., Clinical Psychology, Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, IL)

Dr. Schwartz has provided psychotherapy to adults, couples, and teens for eighteen years in outpatient clinics, hopsitals, and in private practice.  She treats clients who struggle with a variety of depressive and anxiety disorders, including post-partum depression, and offers assessment of eating disorders including binge-eating and anorexia.  Dr. Schwartz specializes in therapy with married and unmarried couples, helping them to resolve longstanding relationship problems.  She also has special expertise with gay and lesbian clients who wish to build more satisfying lifestyles and relationships.  Finally, Dr. Schwartz is an expert in the assessment and therapy of addictive/compulsive disorders, including drug and alcohol abuse and dependence.                                                                                                     

 

Sid Wax, LCSW  (M.S.W., University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA;  Post-Master's Certificate in Advanced Clinical Social Work, Loyola University, Chicago, IL)

Having practiced for twenty-nine years, Mr. Wax brings extensive clinical expertise to the assessment and treatment of most emotional problems, and is specially prepared to help those burdened with complex and difficult-to-treat disorders.  He applies psychodynamic theory and technique to individual, couples, and family treatments.  

As noted, while Mr. Wax is versed in treating many different clients, he possesses special skills in treating the following issues: marital and family problems and conflicts, difficulties associated with infertility and adoption, and individuals struggling with serious, longstanding mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other seriously debilitating conditions.    

                                                                      

Danneita Johnson, LCPC (M.A., Argosy University, Chicago, IL)   

Ms. Johnson has extensive experience in the treatment of mood, personality, and psychotic disorders, gleaned from years of working in community mental health centers.  She also specializes in women's issues, including counseling victims of sexual assault, and is trained in the assessment and treatment of issues related to infertility, pregnancy, and childbirth.  In addition, Ms. Johnson consults with parents regarding their children's behavioral and mood difficulties.

                                                                   

Donald Boggs, LCSW (M.S.W, University of Chicago, Chicago, IL)

Mr. Boggs is highly trained in the psychotherapy of a variety of severe emotional problems, including major depression and bipolar disorder.  He specializes in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic work with teenagers.  In his former position as staff therapist at a residential treatment facility for teenage boys, Mr. Boggs also made extensive use of family therapies.  He is currently completing work on a Certificate in Child Analysis, under the auspicies of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. 

 

Kurt Hanus, LCPC (M.A., Argosy University, Chicago, IL)

Mr. Hanus has significant experience working from a psychodynamic perspective with individuals, including adults, teenagers and their families.  He also works with couples to resolve disagreements and other, more significant interpersonal problems.  In addition to his university training, Mr. Hanus holds a Certificate in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.  At previous professional positions, Mr. Hanus has supervised staff therapists in their work.

 

Kristina Seidelman, LCSW (M.S.W., Univ. of Michigan School of Social Work, Ann Arbor, MI)                                                                   

Ms. Seidelman specializes in crisis-oriented and long-term therapy with teenage girls, families, and women who have suffered domestic violence.  She is trained in an ecelectic theoretical orientation, including family systems and cognitive-behavioral approaches.
